Her Party
by Jason Stringer
This is the Drama Slate short film I directed as part of my Advanced Diploma of Screen course at Fremantle’s Film & Television Institute, WA. You’ll notice “Her Party” is a completely different style of direction for me, something I thoroughly enjoyed and embraced as much as possible. I would love some feedback on this one, so please feel free to comment! Thank you for taking the time to watch!! Jason.

You asked for feedback – so here it comes:
My response on first watching, having no idea of the storyline or concept, raw to the project apart from anxiously awaiting the ‘nice’ film –
Loved the camera angles and perspectives, especially, through the kitchen window and closeups on teapot etc.
Music was beautiful – then I discovered it was Ny!
Loved the cameo appearance of Ny in the photo.
The single drop of water running down the vase as the flower was rearranged, whether deliberate or not gave me the message of the film.
The single balloon dropping was a great metaphor.
The candle going out first time round was another great metaphor.
I like the change in title from the original, the slight nuance from ‘The’ to ‘Her’ is important I think.
I know that I may have completely mis-interpreted the message of the film, being a preacher I know how an ‘audience’ can hear (see) something in what you are trying to say that is COMPLETELY different!
Well done to everyone involved in this production, especially the director!
The movie made me cry….it was so close to home in so many ways…
I enjoyed in and for that thankyou
Love Rochelle xoxo
